The Ask
Promote Ennis commissioned Repucon Consulting to develop a three-year niche destination development plan. The plan was to establish a niche focus that all stakeholders would embrace and map out the structures and operational approach to maximize the tourism potential of the town.
The Approach
A series of workshops hosted with all tourism stakeholders established the early ambition for the town. A mix of qualitative and quantitative research methods were used to gather additional insights from the internal stakeholders and the views of visitors, key influencers in the marketplace and examining international best practice for comparable destinations. A new destination brand was developed to work with the Ennis Niche Destination Plan and create a new tourism identity for the town.
The Outcome
The Ennis Niche Destination Plan has now been adopted a focus for tourism recovery in Ennis post Covid19. The plan has established ten key projects designed to create new tourism structures, new tourism partnerships and a new destination brand focus for all stakeholders to align with. Ennis will develop its strong position as an exploration hub for the Wild Atlantic Way, the Burren GEO Park, East Clare and Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands and Loop Head Peninsula. It will focus on enhancing the existing Ennis visitor experience while providing visitors with more reasons to visit and immerse themselves in the town.
