The Ask
Munster Council GAA commissioned Repucon Consulting to undertake an independent review of their coaching return on investment. The project represented the third independent assessment Munster GAA with data measuring 12 years of investment.
The Approach
The focus of the research was to examine the return that the annual coaching investment made by Munster GAA into clubs, schools and other provincial activity. A programme of research was undertaken using the Repucon Consulting social return on investment modelling framework. The approach included primary research conducted with key groups such as clubs, parents of underage players and teenage players. The study also assessed provincial training and playing activity of clubs and player development activity such as development squads across the province.
The Outcome
The independent analysis highlighted the annual value generated by Munster GAA activities, realising an annual value of €19 million based on an investment of €1.7 million. The analysis also assessed a range of additional issues in relation to player retention, operational challenges faced by clubs. New analysis included the impact of Covid 19 in the context of reduced participation opportunities for underage players.
