Tourism Research and Insights

The Ask
Killarney Chamber and Tourism Council commissioned Repucon Consulting to undertake visitor sentiment research following the re-opening of the destination post Covid 19 lockdown. The research was undertaken to assess current visitor attitudes in addition to testing the significance of a range of development priorities identified within the tourism destination development plan for Killarney (Killarney Gateway Plan).
The Approach
A survey of 500 visitors to Killarney who had spent one overnight in the destination was undertaken at a range of sampling points throughout Killarney. The in-depth interviews were conducted using a mix of quantitative and qualitative data capture techniques to assess visitor satisfaction, identification of areas for destination improvement and visitor ratings of Killarney’s adherence to a safe destination guidelines through various tourism stakeholders.
The Outcome
The delivery of a Tourism Insights report based on our bespoke Tourmetrica insights methodology and research analysis approach. Other Tourmetrica insights projects included comparable visitor sentiments studies for the Boyne Valley Tourism, interviewing 500 international and domestic visitors and in-destination visitor sentiment review in the North Kerry and West Clare area.
